Our sessions might look a little different from other learning opportunities. They are fun, lively, and fast-paced. We will provide you with a variety of tools, materials, games, and even a few fake moustaches, and ask you to take the lead on your own learning. Our friendly Hosts will be there to help you along the way.
Sessions are offered in convenient locations at convenient times, so that you can find a session to suit you. All sessions are one-off events, open to the public and free to attend. The U’s learning sessions are an opportunity to learn something useful while meeting new people in your community.

Be a Lifesaver
Do you know what to do in a medical emergency? You may feel like you don’t but our quick, hands-on session developed with the British Red Cross will show you just how much you know and how easily you could make a difference and even save a life. We’ll cover 7 key skills and you’ll go away with the confidence to step in and use the skills to do the right thing.
Give and Take
Have you ever found yourself faced with a conflict but weren’t sure if or how to respond? Give and Take, developed in partnership with Dfuse, will show you some useful tips for addressing life’s little nuisances safely and amicably. By adopting a Defusing Mind-set you will be able to keep your cool and prevent difficult situations from escalating.
Build Your Network
No one has all the answers, resources or ideas they need to get through life. Luckily, each one of us is connected to dozens, even hundreds of other people through our family, friends, and acquaintances. Often we can turn to these people to help us through difficult times, or to make the most of new opportunities and ideas. This session will share some tips for nurturing your social and professional networks.
We’ve all been there: what should have been a good night out got out of hand, and now we’ve got a terrible headache and a lost wallet (or worse!) to show for it. This session, developed in partnership with Alcohol Concern, looks at some of the risks associated with alcohol and offers some practical tips for young people to stay safe while still having a good time.
Who doesn’t want to be happier? In today’s busy, changing world stress and worry can take a huge toll on our mental and physical health. Luckily a few simple actions and exercises can offset the effects of stress and help us to maintain a more positive outlook. This session has been developed in partnership with SLAM, and is sure to get you smiling. Come on, get happy!
